It’s official…I’ve given up on winter this year.  If it were up to me we would’ve had at least two snowfalls of a foot each.  But instead we walk away with a few snowfalls of less than 2 inches each.  Now that we’re well into March and the forecast has no snow in sight, I’m finally moving on.  But before I do I’ll share my “blizzard” of a picture with you from mid-February…

So long snow…hopefully I’ll see you next winter!

Ok no one actually came from Vancouver to see us but our friends Jeff & Jess came from Kansas.  But we don’t really associate them with Kansas because we met them in Vancouver.  We met there while at Regent and knew each other before kids even entered the picture.  Before the left Vancouver (a year before us) they had Charlie.  Now Charlie is 4 years old!

Last weekend they made the drive from Kansas to come stay with us for the weekend.  We had lots of great conversation especially after all the kiddos were in bed.  And it was so great to reconnect with friends from the past.

We enjoyed lots of time together but taking pictures wasn’t high on my list of things to do.  Although I do wish I would’ve taken a few more.  However, one afternoon all the guys headed out to enjoy the snow.

First the big boys threw snowballs at the roof to try and knock off the snow…

Next up was a picture of Charlie with the snowman they made.  The head had already fallen off…

And finally they each took a turn hitting snowballs…

We had a great time playing in the snow!

I’ve loved looking at all the snow but at some point I realized we need paths to get through places.  We already had a path out the back door but we needed one out front for expected deliveries and for visiting friends.  I bundled myself up and headed out with a tiny shovel.  We didn’t have a snow shovel so I had to use this old one Lucas had.

I set to work in the front but little did I know I had someone watching my work.

After Lucas caught me he thought I should have some fun by throwing snow in the air…

Once our little break was done it was back to work for me.  I got quite the workout and have been sore ever since but I’m pretty happy with the finished product.

After the storm ended I had to go outside to survey the damage.  Really we just had a lot of snow with no damages, no power outages, no problem really.  But I still bundled myself up and headed out to see it all.

Our front porch was pretty much covered in snow…

I walked around the house and at the worst part the snow was 20 inches deep.  I tried to take a self-portrait of my leg and you can kind of tell this is over my knee!

In the back we had kept a bit of a trail to the wood pile.

Our lovely overhand and snow all over the back deck.

Anyone guess what this is?

A view of the back…covered in snow!

I love looking out and seeing all the wonderful white stuff!  But ask me in a week and I may have a different response…

Yesterday the snow started before we even woke up.  I thought I’d take some pictures of a couple objects in the yard and see how it changed throughout the day.  These were taken at roughly 9:30am, 12:00pm, 4 pm and the final one taken this morning.  I started with the front porch…

I found some sticks in the yard to watch…

And another stick closer to the house…

Finally the pillars on our sidewalk…

We did some rough measuring last night and we got around 16+ inches!  Quite a lot for one day of snow.  We’re planning to get out in it today to shovel some stuff so I’ll be sure to take more pictures.  Poor Os can’t come with us though since it’s a balmy 10 F and feels like -6 F!  Hope we don’t freeze…

I love that this has been my view for over a week.

About a week and a half ago we got a good dumping of snow.  The day before the big snow happened I was at Target and stumbled across a baby toboggan.  I just couldn’t pass on it so I snatched it up and began hoping for snow.  After my wish came true we decided to test out the baby ‘boggan for the first time.

First we had to bundle up our baby bear complete with mittens…

Daddy strapped him all in…

And he was ready for his first ride!  The light was getting a little low but we managed to grab some shots of the action…

Actually as I took these pictures I realized what would really be best is a video!  So I ran inside and we were able to capture Os first toboggan ride…

This snow had almost melted when we received 10 1/2 more inches of the white stuff!  I am in heaven and thankfully I have nowhere to go except outside to pull my little babe around.

As I write this snow is falling outside.  Who knows how much will fall but I do know it is quite cold out.  With winter all around us we’ve been using this beauty more and more…

Our wood stove!  This lovely lady is housed in what we lovingly refer to as the indoor shed.  If you walk out the back of our kitchen or out the side door in Owen’s room, you enter the indoor shed.  It’s part of the house but it doesn’t have any heating or cooling going to it.  However it does house our wood stove.  We’ve been opening the doors and letting the hot air fill our house.  Last night was especially cold but Lucas kept the fire going all day and by evening it looked something like this…

And the temperature in the indoor shed was over 100 degrees F!  We were wonderfully toasty with our wood stove pouring out the heat.

This morning we woke up to this…

Plans for today…spend the day snuggled inside with my two boys.

Hope you have a wonderful Merry Christmas!
