Before we left Princeton we were lucky enough to see our good friends Jeremy and Katy! We met them in Vancouver but they now live in Scotland where Jeremy is doing a PhD. They were on their way to DC but flew into Newark and came to visit us! It was so great to see them and to catch up on life. And they were pretty excited to meet Owen…

They even brought him some presents from Scotland including this hat which is apparently all the rage with kids in Scotland.

They arrived in the evening and stayed the night so the next day we enjoyed some time around Princeton before the were on the road to DC.

Of course Katy and I had to have a picture together…

And a quick family shot…

It was so great to see them and to reconnect after some time apart. I know that they will always be great friends of ours and I’m so thankful to have them in our lives (even though we are far apart). Maybe our paths will cross again and we can live close to each other. Until then we are just thankful for the times we have…

For Owen’s 2 week birthday (March 6) we took him to the Princeton vs Harvard basketball game. Lucas’ parents were still in town and we thought it might be nice to get out of the house and to have some help along the way. We even headed downtown earlier in the day to pick up some Princeton onesies for Owen…he couldn’t go to the game without the proper attire. :)
He seemed to enjoy the sights and sounds of the game although he didn’t enjoy the band when he was trying to dose off…

And with Owen cheering them on Princeton won!

Here in New Jersey we have had quite the winter weather. Last week we enjoyed not one but two snow storms! I was thankful that Nacho decided to stay inside for these…although now I’m definitely ready to meet our little one. :) So here are a few pictures from during the storm…

…and the day after…

All this snow is still on the ground which makes it kind of hard to do all the walking I’ve been encouraged to do to get labor going. But I still enjoy looking outside and seeing a winter wonderland.

Recently my friends Jeanie and Kim threw me a baby shower! This shower was with my friends from the seminary community and mostly consisted of people in the book club I am part of. It was a lovely afternoon with lots of yummy food and good friends around. I was blown away by how cute it all looked and thanks to Kim (who is a professional photographer) I have these wonderful pictures to gaze at…

They went with a green and brown theme which is pretty much what we have used for our little nursery here in Princeton. Also Jeanie had the great idea of passing out tiny hand sanitizers as gifts.

My neighbor, Shannon, made this awesome diaper cake even though she couldn’t be there.

With each of the presents the girls included a favorite children’s book instead of a card. I thought it was really fitting since most of the guests were book club members.

And here we are…Back Row: Shanna, Leslie, Nicole, Kim…Front Row: Jen, Me, Jeanie (Katie had to leave early)

As if I didn’t love having pictures from the shower taken by Kim, as a present she gave me a newborn session and 8×10 print! I am so excited about this and can’t wait to see all the creative ways she captures our little one.
Thanks again for such a wonderful day!

Last year in our Christmas cards we included a letter that looked at the highlights from the previous year. Granted 2008 was filled with lots of changes with Vancouver to Missouri to Princeton and this year hasn’t been quite as exciting but still there are lots of things to remember. So I thought I would continue the tradition by looking back at 2009.
January
After having spent the holidays with family in Missouri we settled back into our normal schedules and enjoyed the winter weather.

February
In February I ended a 2+ year journey and cut my hair.

March
We enjoyed some local Philadelphia flavor when we headed down to Philly with some friends from church.

April
Lots of traveling happened in April. First to Ithaca, NY to visit some college friends, Matt & Tracy, along with their new baby Nadya…

And later in April we headed off to Vancouver…

May
May began our summer in the city with the visit of Lucas’ parents, Bonnie & Larry. We headed into NYC to show them around and explore some new things for ourselves.

At the end of May we headed back into NYC to meet up with my Aunt Dodo and Uncle Mike and to stay the night on Times Square.

June
Easily the most exciting thing of the year…

We found out we’re expecting! Granted the real event happened in May but the excitement began in June. :)
Also my Aunt Shirley and Cousin Carrie came for a visit…

July
More visitors in the form of my sister, Megan; my friend, Allie; my parents, Craig & Pat…

August
In August Lucas and I celebrated 6 years of marriage by taking a little vacation up to Vermont to get away from New Jersey for awhile.

September
Besides celebrating my birthday we also enjoyed a visit from Mandi & Jesse.

October
In October I headed home to Missouri to enjoy a wonderful Baby Shower with family and friends.

November
We bought a house!

December
The belly continued to grow as we await the arrival of our little one in February. We celebrated Lucas’ birthday and then enjoyed the holidays by ourselves in New Jersey by heading into NYC on Christmas Day.

With the recent snow we couldn’t help but get out and about to enjoy the winter weather in a beautiful town like Princeton. We started off wandering through the university…

After the university we popped out in downtown Princeton enjoy some sights…

But the main point of the evening was to stop in at Chez Alice for some hot chocolate! And we even added a piece of raspberry torte to the mix…

After we came out of our sugar comas we took a quick look at the tree in Palmer Square and then headed home to warm back up.

In case you didn’t know, the entire east coast from North Carolina through to Maine received a heavy dose of snow this last weekend. I tried not to get my hopes up too high but I wanted snow…and lots of it! On Saturday it started snowing and didn’t really stop until Sunday morning. It wasn’t really heavy until later in the afternoon but I started taking some pictures to document the blizzard of 2009.
Saturday, 9:00 am…

Saturday, Noon…

Saturday, 4:00 pm…

Sunday, 7:00 am…

Sunday, 1:00 pm…

After we made the trip out to church we enjoyed the snow back in Princeton with a quick walk out onto the golf course behind our apartment…

Princeton ended up getting 15 inches of snow!!! I’m going to enjoy it for as long as I can, which seems to be until Christmas Day when the weather will turn to 50 degrees with rain. Ugh! Until then, I’m enjoying the white stuff.

Last Saturday we woke up to a nice fall day and headed out to enjoy some football. We went with a group of friends to the Princeton vs. Yale game (the 132nd annual meeting) and enjoyed the afternoon watching the Tigers kick butt.

As you may be able to tell from the pictures, we were actually sitting on the Yale side but there were more Princeton people around so we didn’t feel too out of place. Lucas and I both had on our Princeton sweatshirts so we fit right in with the fur coats and fancy clothes all around. :)
Overall we had a great time enjoying some football…Ivy League style.

This past Saturday we spent part of the afternoon wandering around Princeton’s campus taking pictures. We thought more of the trees were turning but realized we might have to wait a few more weeks. However, we were still able to find some great shots…

And of course Nacho enjoyed the day as well…especially the hot chocolate that followed. :)

This year we celebrated the 4th of July with a visit from my sister Megan. Her birthday is on the 3rd so we were also able to throw in some birthday celebration as well. However, before she arrived we enjoyed the Princeton fireworks with our friends Vivek and Jeanie…

This one reminded me of Harry Potter with all the green…

Or maybe I just have Harry Potter on the brain with the new movie coming out…but I digress…
We enjoyed our time with Megan and ended up celebrating the 4th by spending the afternoon having a picnic. We enjoyed wonderful weather and a lazy afternoon…

Megan made a halo with these flowers…

It was a great weekend!
