Now that Owen is on the move even Paca has to watch out for him. Here she lays content as Owen plans his move…

He decides to pounce on the cat…

“What? Am I not supposed to lay on Paca?”

He continues to “pet” her…

FInally Paca pulls free!

Well it has been way too long since I last posted about the house and I really meant for the house tour to be done by now. But life gets in the way and time passes. Finally the time has come to continue touring the house. For today we’re going to actually start at the very beginning…the entryway. Why I didn’t start with this in the first place is beyond me but I’m making up for it now.
If you walk in our front door (which we rarely do since we park in the back) you immediately see this…

Going clockwise, to your left would be the doorway to the living room, straight ahead is the laundry room, ahead and to your right is the doorway to the bedroom and immediately to your right is the doorway to the study (don’t worry, you can’t see it in this picture).
Under the stairs I’ve made a little coat area that is nothing fancy but it uses the space and stores some of our coats. And I promise I didn’t put Paca there…she’s just a natural model…

And so as not to give the impression that every space in my house is perfectly accounted for, I’ll show you the entire space under the stairs…

That’s more like it. I throw a bunch of stuff under here the we sometimes want to get to but can generally be out of the way. But back to the tour…
As you walk up the stairs you find something I love about this house although it isn’t normally my taste…

Halfway up the stairs…

Looking upstairs…

Soon I’ll continue the tour upstairs and finish out the downstairs. But for today that is all. Oh and a shot of one of Paca’s favorite spots in the house…

Each day it seems we get closer to Owen being able to crawl. When he lays on the floor he now moves around and around…just not forward. He sometimes acts like he thinks he is crawling by swimming with all his limbs. After a few seconds he has to quit to take a break. I think in his mind he is going somewhere but for now he stays in one place.
I took some videos that kind of capture his wanna-be-crawling. And along the way we ran into Paca. So the crawling ended and time with kitty began…

Every so often I like to grab a shot of Owen and Paca together. He likes to feel her fur and we’re trying to teach him not to grab but to pet. Paca is very patient with him. :)

And even though Paca looks like she is much bigger than Owen, he is actually heavier than her and this isn’t the most flattering shot of Paca.

It’s fun to see Owen grow and compare to his cat.

Paca and Owen continue to grow as friends and recently we had to do another side by side comparison…

Paca especially likes to cuddle Owen…notice the paw/hand connection…

Obviously they’ve both mellowed out from a few months ago…

Before Owen arrived I wondered how our little baby would feel compared to our cat, Paca. I always knew Paca was a little on the heavy side but I wondered how the weight difference would feel. I was amazed at how heavy Paca felt the first time I picked her up after Owen was born. But slowly and surely Owen is gaining on Paca in weight and size. Paca has adjusted quite well to Owen’s presence and hopefully over time they will become the best of friends.
Here they are with Owen at 5 weeks and roughly 13 lbs…

Paca is thinking, “Hey baby stop your fussing!”

For Christmas I received a new camera lens from my parents. I had been eyeing this lens for quite awhile and Christmas brought a time when I could actually get it. :) I am now enthralled with my new Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens. The thing that is different about this lens is it has a much smaller f-stop than my other lenses and that makes a smaller area that is in focus…or as I like to think of it, more of the picture is blurry (which I love!)
Since receiving this new lens I’ve been taking lots of random pictures…most of which turn out to be nothing since I’m still getting used to the lens. But my always willing model supplied a few shots that I like…

And if you think these are cute with a cat, just wait until the little one arrives. :)

During our recent time of decorating for Christmas, we stumbled upon a friend for Paca. She was a little uneasy about her guest at first…

But after awhile she couldn’t care less.

Let’s just hope she doesn’t attack her friend while we’re not looking or else we may have a missing reindeer on our hands.

Once upon a time Paca was a outdoor cat. Then she came to Vancouver and almost died twice in one month from outdoor sources. Thus ended her life as an outdoor cat. Since then she has been relegated to staring out windows and smelling the fresh air through the cracks. With fall in the air we haven’t had the windows open as much and the other day as I cracked the sliding glass open, Paca ran to be with the outdoors. She sits in this spot and feels the breeze, watches the birds and dreams of a life when she can go outside again. Don’t worry Paca, we dream of that life for you too…

The other day Paca, our cat, and I had quite the little photo shoot. She just loves the camera and I can’t say no to her. The whole situation was really win-win…I got a new pair of boots and she got a new box to play with. She was quite content to sit in her box all day long but Lucas just had to torment her by trying to put the lid on the box…

“What is this thing?”

Finally Lucas succumbs to the power of the box as well…

After Lucas was done “playing” with her Paca had had enough. However, just a short while later I came in to find her like this…

The girl loves boxes…and I can’t blame her.
