Once upon a time Paca was a outdoor cat.  Then she came to Vancouver and almost died twice in one month from outdoor sources.  Thus ended her life as an outdoor cat.  Since then she has been relegated to staring out windows and smelling the fresh air through the cracks.  With fall in the air we haven’t had the windows open as much and the other day as I cracked the sliding glass open, Paca ran to be with the outdoors.  She sits in this spot and feels the breeze, watches the birds and dreams of a life when she can go outside again.  Don’t worry Paca, we dream of that life for you too…

The other day Paca, our cat, and I had quite the little photo shoot.  She just loves the camera and I can’t say no to her.  The whole situation was really win-win…I got a new pair of boots and she got a new box to play with.  She was quite content to sit in her box all day long but Lucas just had to torment her by trying to put the lid on the box…

“What is this thing?”

Finally Lucas succumbs to the power of the box as well…

After Lucas was done “playing” with her Paca had had enough.  However, just a short while later I came in to find her like this…

The girl loves boxes…and I can’t blame her.

With spring quickly approaching we have been enjoying more and more sunlight.  And I think that Paca enjoys it more than anyone…

I just wish she could get comfortable.  :)

This year was the first year we included a Christmas Letter in our Christmas cards. And since I couldn’t send a Christmas card to everyone I know and love I thought I would share our Christmas Letter with my lovely blog world.  As an added bonus you get to see a picture for every month…and let me tell you how hard it is for me to only pick one pictures for each month.  :)

Merry Christmas!

We pray this letter finds you well as we are in the midst of the Christmas season! This past year has brought many changes for us and we thought we’d share with a month by month report.

In January we spent part of the month home in Missouri as we celebrated Christmas before heading back to Vancouver where Lucas and I were both finishing school at Regent College.

February brought the news that Lucas had been accepted into Princeton Theological Seminary and we enjoyed time on Galiano Island with friends from Regent.

The month of March brought many baby related events as several of our close friends welcomed new babies or news of upcoming arrivals.

In April we celebrated as Lucas and I both graduated from Regent College, a place that formed us in ways seen and unseen.

May was a month of goodbyes as we left Vancouver, the city we called home for 2 1/2 years. There were many tearful goodbyes but it only reminded us of the wonderful friendships we developed while we were there. We then made the 40 hour drive home to Missouri to spend the summer with family

During the month of June Lucas was at Duke as a summer research fellow. In his absence my mom and I enjoyed a girls weekend in Branson and I spent a lot of time by my pool.

July was spent catching up with friends in Springfield & Tulsa as well as celebrating the 4th in West Plains and Kansas City.

In August we celebrated 5 years of marriage by taking a trip to Mexico with our good friends Spencer & Abby.

Early September we made the 18 hour drive to Princeton, NJ and set up our new life. I found two great jobs and celebrated my birthday with a day in NYC.

October brought our friends Ryan, Vanya & Ciara to us all the way from Vancouver. We also spent some time exploring our new surroundings.

In November we had another visitor when my mom came to stay with us. We also celebrated Thanksgiving as Lucas roasted his first turkey…it turned out great

December brings Lucas’ birthday! It also brought our friend Katie all the way from Scotland.  We will stick around Princeton until Christmas Eve and then drive home to be with family for a week.

It has been a great year and we look forward to the New Year to come. Always know that you are welcome to come and stay with us if you are in the area. Again we wish you a very, merry Christmas!

After taking a few days to figure out what in the heck I’m doing with a sewing machine I finally decided on a project. Going into it I knew this project probably wouldn’t turn into anything since I was sure to mess it up, but I was pleasantly surprised. I decided to make a bag for my huge folder of worship music. This was both in honor of my new job and also because I like to have this folder out and about but it isn’t very pretty. So now I not only have a way to carry the folder but it also has a nice, pretty home…

Before I started my project I thought I should mess around with the machine a bit so I made some little pocket things. Paca seemed to like them and Lucas thought I should make two of them so Paca could have some saddlebags and help around the house…

In other news…today in the mail I found this…

Before we left Missouri I went in to register for my absentee ballot. I was surprised to receive it so early and was even more surprised to see the very specific pencil attached to the instruction sheet. :) So not only did it come with a pre-stamped envelope for me to send my ballot in with, I also got a free pencil…

Our place is definitely not ready to unveil to the world, but I thought I would give you a little sneak peek around the place.  These are just a few of my favorite things…

I’m glad to have my Fiestaware dishes back…

I’ll give you a full view of our new bedding but for now only a peek…

And Paca has definitely made herself comfortable on her always favorite spot…the back of the couch…

As we’ve been exploring our surroundings we were pleasantly surprised to find a trail right by our place.  This trail is literally right behind our place…

We’re still unpacking and haven’t hung any pictures but hopefully in a few more days I’ll be able to take you on a tour.  :)

This past week we embarked on what will hopefully be our last cross-country road trip for quite some time. We have safely arrived in New Jersey and are becoming familiar with the land of concrete. :) Actually it is quite pretty and thankfully we don’t live next to a parking lot. The adventure started last Saturday as we drove to Springfield to pick up the moving truck. We decided not to haul the car behind it so that meant we both had to drive the entire trip. On Saturday that trip was only from Springfield to West Plains but we had a chance to get a feel for the road and to test out our new super-duper walkie-talkies (thanks Dad!). After we got back to West Plains we spent the rest of the day loading the truck…

As the truck filled up the garage became empty…

On Sunday we just had to pack a few final things and then we were on our way. But not before each getting a road-trip survival kit…aka snacks…

…taking a final picture with the truck…

…and saying goodbye to my parents…

So after all this hard work we were finally on the road. On Sunday we drove from West Plains, MO to Indianapolis, IN. Lucas drove the big rig while Paca and I followed behind in the girl car. Paca and I spent most of our trip looking at this…

Paca quickly made herself comfortable…she always has to have a view of the road…

Bye, bye Missouri…

After lots of driving and a few cat naps…

…we said hello to Indianapolis.

Little known fact…Lucas graduated high school from Greenfield, Indiana which is just outside of Indianapolis. So on Monday morning we went on the Lucas Endicott Reality Tour…we saw his high school…

…and their old house…

Then it was time to drive from Indianapolis, IN to Harrisburg, PA. This day was a pretty long day especially since we were both driving. Again Paca was quite the trooper and we even saw some pretty sights once we were out of Ohio…

…Almost heaven…

Pennsylvania was pretty crazy because we spent most of the day on the turnpike and it was Monday of the long Labor Day weekend. Traffic was pretty crazy at times…

But the trip was broken up by several tunnels..

After a restful night’s sleep in Harrisburg, PA we woke up bright and early on Tuesday morning to finish our cross-country move. After only a few hours on the road we finally made it to the promised land…

Since arriving we have spent our time unpacking, making Target runs, unpacking, walking on the trails behind our place, unpacking….oh and more unpacking. Hopefully in a few more days I’ll be able to show you around our new place. Until then…

***No animals or human beings were harmed in the taking of these pictures…although at times the driver may or may not have swerved off the road in order to achieve these photographic masterpieces. :)

When we traveled from Vancouver to Missouri we not only had the challenge of getting all of our stuff into the car, but we also had to fit a cat!  We weren’t too worried about Paca traveling as she’s always been a good little car cat and she has even flown in two planes!  We were more worried that she would have enough room and that we would get through the border.  Once we crossed the border, with no cat questions asked, Paca settled right into a great traveling cat.

She started the journey a little cramped…can you find her?

Then she decided she had to sit on our laps but eventually settled into her standard spot.  She stayed in this spot for probably 90% of the trip…

She even helped out with the driving…

That’s our little Paca Cat…

-Shannon

While Paca, our cat, generally spends about 18-20 hours a day sleeping, the other 4-6 hours she can be quite crazy. She loves playing “tag” with Lucas which consists of him running up to her, touching her and then running away. She then runs after him, attacks his leg and then runs away. This can continue for upwards of 20 minutes!

Recently I’ve snapped a couple shots of her quirkiness…One night she decided to play with my shoes. She had her paws down deep in them and after a few minutes we noticed her “walking” with my shoe on…
Photobucket

It turns out her claw was stuck and she couldn’t get out of the shoe…

Another thing we have found her doing more and more of is watching tv. She doesn’t just happen to be looking at the tv, she is actually watching what is going on. She normally does this while sitting on the arm of the couch but recently she will go right up to the tv, sit there and watch…

We love this silly cat!

When we decided to go home for Christmas we soon asked ourselves what we were going to do with Paca. We thought about bringing her with us and leaving her at my parents, we thought about boarding her (and then thought about the money we would have to spend to do that) and finally we thought of our friends Jeremy and Katy. They had taken care of Paca before and they have 2 cats of their own. So we knew we could trust them with the job but how would we convince them to take care of Paca for 3 1/2 weeks?!?! Thankfully with little to no convincing they agreed to stop in, play with Paca and love her…plus they took full advantage of our tv. :)

While we were home in Missouri we kept our eyes peeled for some gifts to show them how much we appreciated their help and on our way back to Vancouver we picked up some ginormous steaks and yummy food. Last night was the night to thank them so we invited them over for the yummy dinner and they even enjoyed the gifts we got for them…

And here are some pictures of Paca the lovely cat who Jeremy and Katy so graciously took care of…
