I’ve been Owen’s barber his entire life. That means I’ve cut his hair twice…the kid doesn’t have much hair. But now that he’s a toddler it takes a few more distractions to get the job done.
First we start with a hairy boy…

Then we give him a sucker…

Next we let the TV draw him into a coma…

And voila! The haircut is finished!

Just playing catch-up with the blog so I’m posting the date this originally happened:
December 9, 2011
Owen doesn’t really have one particular blanket or stuffed animal that he sleeps with or must have. However, he has grown quite fond of his puppy. We bring him with us on trips, even though Owen doesn’t seem to care, and we generally have puppy around.
The other day I walked into the kitchen, glanced over to Paca’s food dish and saw this…

Owen was quick to show me exactly what he was doing…

He may not always need Puppy around, but he sure is good at taking care of him.

Bought refurbished online and it was Lucas’ idea! All I know is I love my new baby…

Each day Owen becomes more a toddler and less a baby. This has become strikingly clear in the way he wants things. Prior to these pictures he was playing with my lens cap. Once he started to practically swallow the cap I decided enough was enough. I reached over and kindly took it away from him. This is what happened next…

Then things went from bad to….a little better…

…to “what lens cap?”

All better!

Thankfully his little breakdowns typically only last 5-10 seconds (depending on the mood and time of day). But I see a day in the not too distant future when we may have wars on our hands. Lord, help us all!
For now I’ll enjoy my smiling baby toddler!

With the warm summer weather we’ve been spending more time outside in the evenings. It helps to get outside and keep Owen entertained after days stuck inside because of the blazing heat. The other night we set up the water table and Os went to town playing with it!

A quick pic with the Os…no makeup at the end of a hot day makes for a not so nice photo. :)

Who needs a water table when you have a lens cap?

And now for some father/son humor…
Really only Lucas thought this was funny as evidenced by his laughing in the background…

Boys will be boys…

Even though this lovely evening happened over a month ago I still had to share. We are lucky to live by the Katy Trail and on this particular evening we explored a new-to-me section.

We all had a great time and I look back on these pictures with fond memories because then it was maybe 75 degrees and now it’s over 90! Hello summer!

While we were in KC we stumbled upon World Market. And like I said before I really like this store! We weren’t planning to purchase anything but as we wandered through the store Lucas let me have a little shopping spree! And since this doesn’t happen very often, I thought I’d share my finds…

I fell in love with the ceramic mug! I love the design and everything about it! And I bought some darjeeling tea to fill it with. :)

A lovely tea bag holder thing…

I’ve been wanting a carafe for water and I found this one for a good price.

With Easter right around the corner I thought this would be a fitting edition to our kitchen. Plus I love to have deviled eggs and I never have a proper plate to put them on. Problem solved!

Instant miso soup? Yes, please! Hey when you live in a small town you have to settle for instant. I’ve now tasted it and it isn’t too bad considering.

We are always in search of chopsticks when we get take out so now we have our own lovely set!

As you can tell I lead a pretty exciting life. But it’s the small things that matter and I happen to love my new small things!

Yesterday you saw how Os can be a little destructor but he is also my little helper. Recently he was quite the helper with laundry. He loves to push the dryer door closed, sort the clothes, watch the washer and as you can see he’s taken to lint removal.
He starts by giving the clothes a good once over…

Then he gets the real touch pieces…

And, of course, he has to make sure the lint roller is as sticky as possible…

He is quite the little helper and I love having him work alongside me.

P.S. Right now we are experiencing Snowpocalypse! We are under a blizzard warning and are supposed to get 25+ inches of snow over the next day! Pictures and posts to come…
On facebook I recently posted how even after 11+ months of being a stay at home mom I still feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I take a shower during the day. Now you might think that isn’t much of a feat but it is for me because I can’t seem to squeeze in a shower while Owen is sleeping. His room is right next door and there have been one too many times of stepping out of the shower only to hear him screaming! So I generally take a shower after he wakes up from his first nap. He’s happy to play by himself for awhile and I can sneak some shower time in.
The other day this is exactly what I set out to do. I started my shower with sweet serenity but quickly Owen came in to play with his bath toys. At one point during my shower he was being a little too quiet and I peeked out to see what he was doing. He had found his favorite bathroom friend…toilet paper!
When I got out of the shower I found this…

And this…

Oh and this…

I couldn’t help but laugh…right after I wiped the toilet water off my hands from fishing out the entire roll he had thrown in. :)

You may think that the Os always looks so wonderfully cute but there is a secret hiding behind every picture. You only see his good side but if you look closely you’ll see that our son has grown this…

A baby rat tail!
When I first saw the appearance of the rat tail I was shocked, disgusted and in awe. I mean what 11 month old has a rat tail!?!? The funniest thing about it is that if Lucas’ hair grows out it looks exactly the same. As if I needed more confirmation that the Os looks like Lucas…he has to inherit his rat tail!
In light of this I think the Os might be receiving his first short but sweet haircut in the form of rat tail removal. On the other hand we do live in Missouri and these things are somewhat in fashion.
