Lucas and I are both from Missouri and met in high school at a church retreat called Happening. We only knew each other’s names then but when we both attended Missouri State University we truly fell in love. We began dating in January 2001, were engaged in December 2002 and married the following August 9, 2003. Lucas graduated from Missouri State with a degree in Communications with a minor in Religious Studies. I (Shannon) graduated with a degree in Music Composition with a minor in Dance Composition.

After Lucas graduated in 2003 he worked at Springfield Victory Mission as the Public Relations coordinator and then was offered a job at the church (Schweitzer United Methodist Church) we attended. He worked there as Director of Young Adult ministries. I, too, began working at Schweitzer UMC as worship leader, children’s choir director and youth worship leader. We both continued to work there until moving to Vancouver in January 2006.

We moved to Vancouver for Lucas to attend Regent College and pursue his Master’s in Christian Studies (MCS). He graduated in April 2008 with an MCS in Church History. I began working in Vancouver but then became a full-time student in the fall of 2007. I spent the year working on a Diploma in Christian Studies and graduated in April as well.

At the end of May 2008 we left Vancouver, the city we called home for the past 2 1/2 years, and spent the summer in Missouri.  Lucas went to Duke University for the month of June 2008 to participate in the Wesley Summer Seminar.  After celebrating our 5 year anniversary with a trip to the Mayan Riviera we moved to Princeton, NJ in September of 2008 for Lucas to attend Princeton Theological Seminary.

While Lucas is busy with school I spend my time working at the Center of Theological Inquiry as Facilities Manager and at Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church as the worship leader.  In June 2009 we found out I am pregnant and we are currently looking forward to February 13, 2010 when we will meet our child!

Who knows where we will go from there but we will continue to trust God every step of the way…
